CHALLENGE
The brainchild of successful entrepreneur and native Nicaraguan, Don Carlos Pellas, Guacalito de la Isla is a five-star residential resort destination on Nicaragua’s sparkling Emerald Coast. Handshoe began working with the development team at Guacalito in 2009 when the community was its initial planning phases to develop a comprehensive brand identity and create channels for the delivery of marketing messages.

SOLUTION
As the plans for Phase 1 began, Handshoe worked with one of the most talented multidisciplinary design teams in the world to help bring a strong face to this spectacular place. A lifestyle brand developed hinged on the message:” Guacalito de la Isla: For the love of Family. For the love of Nicaragua. For the love of Home.” Handshoe developed sales messaging, an extended brand palette, print collateral, web presence, directional signage, sales center and event displays, and social media marketing.

RESULTS
The $250 million development is being called a “game changer” for Nicaragua’s small yet feisty tourism sector. Their bohios and oceanfront villas sell as quickly as they are planned and constructed. Mukul, the boutique hotel on the property, has been named one of the top resort destinations in the world. We are very proud to have played a part in Guacalito de la Isla’s rise to greatness.
